After achieving his Master’s degree (Rotterdam, 1992), Léon worked as a trainee at a major law firm in Seattle, Washington, among other things. In 1993 he was admitted to the Bar and joined a large Amsterdam law firm, where he worked in their company-law section until 2006. Here he was closely involved in a number of high-stake international bankruptcy cases, and acted as lawyer in a range of enquiry proceedings before the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal on behalf of various (stock-listed) enterprises.
In 1997, Léon also took over a (family-owned) business that was active in the chemical and petrochemical industry – and more. Until 2005 he combined running this business with his law practice. Léon has built up extensive experience in corporate law and related lawsuits. He has also committed himself to contract law, directors’ liability law, public liability law, acquisitions and participating interests.
In 2005 Léon successfully completed the post-graduate Grotius in-depth course on corporate litigation. Furthermore, he is a member of the Association of Legal Specialists in Corporate Litigation.
